The Water Seminar Series Course Policy

Class will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end promptly at 9:20 a.m.

Credit is based on attendance—there are no exams and no final. You need to attend at least 8 of the 10 classes in order to receive credit. In other words, you can miss no more than 2 classes or class equivalents (see below).

Please sign the attendance sheet as soon as you arrive to class (before 8:30 a.m.).

If you arrive late, please wait until after the seminar to sign in, so that the speaker is not disrupted. Please be sure to sign below the line that says "late." If you need to leave early, inform the on-site Center staff prior to the start of the seminar that you will be doing so.

A late arrival (no more than 10 minutes) or early departure (no more than 10 minutes) counts for ½ credit. Two late arrivals or early departures are equivalent to one missed class, 3 equal 1.5 missed classes, and so forth. More than two absences, more than four late arrivals or early departures, or some combination of the two adding up to more than two class equivalents, will result in no credit.

In general, we do not offer make-up classes. If an extraordinary circumstance prevents you from attending a class, you may submit a petition to the Center.

Out of consideration for the speaker and your fellow students, please be sure to turn off your cell phone, BlackBerry, and other devices, avoid multitasking and unrelated use of your laptop during the lecture, and please refrain from wearing strongly scented products.

For any administrative questions regarding the class (such as enrollment permissions, attendance, and petitions) please contact the Center office (cwws@u.washington.edu or 206-543-6920).
