The Water Seminar Series Course Policy

Class will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end promptly at 9:20 a.m.

Attendance and grading: Credit is based on attendance—there are no exams and no final. You need to attend at least 8 of the 10 classes in order to receive credit. In other words, you can miss no more than 2 classes or class equivalents (see below).

You must sign the attendance sheet by 8:30 a.m. to get full credit for attending that day's seminar. Sign-ins up to 10 minutes late receive only ½ credit.  No credit is given for arriving over 10 minutes late to the seminar. If you arrive late, please wait until after the seminar to sign in, so that the speaker is not disrupted.

If you must leave early, you will receive ½ credit for the class. If you leave more than 10 minutes before the end of the seminar, no credit is given. If you need to leave early, please tell us before the seminar.

Class equivalents: Two late arrivals or early departures are equivalent to one missed class, 3 equal 1.5 missed classes, and so forth. More than two absences, more than four late arrivals or early departures, or some combination of the two adding up to more than two class equivalents, will result in no credit.

No Multi-Tasking Policy: No text messaging, web browsing, reading other material, etc., is permitted during the seminar.  These activities are highly distracting to your fellow students and are disrespectful to the speaker. You will be asked to turn off equipment and put away newspapers or materials from other classes. This policy is consistently enforced in this seminar.

Please refrain from wearing strongly scented products.

Check your UW NetID for email: We will be using your u.washington email address to send you any information about the course.  Make sure you check your UW email address regularly.

Make-ups: In general, we do not offer make-up classes. If an extraordinary circumstance prevents you from attending a class, you may submit a petition to the Center.

For any administrative questions regarding the class (such as enrollment permissions, attendance, and petitions) please contact the Center office (cwws@u.washington.edu or 206-543-6920).
