About the speaker
Susan Bolton has academic training in ecology, biology, hydrology and civil engineering with degrees in Biology and Civil Engineering. She received the Outstanding Dissertation Award in the Water Resources area from the University Council on Water Resources
Her co-edited book 'Restoration of Puget Sound Rivers' received the Outstanding Contribution to Washington's Water Resources', American Water Resources Association, Washington Award.
Her research focuses on stream hydrology and the effect of landscape characteristics on hydrologic and ecological processes and responses in streams. She is also interested in ecohydrology and ecological engineering as they relate to stream restoration.
Recently she has become very active in both the student and professional chapters of Engineers without Borders and is actively working on water-related projects in Ecuador, Bolivia and Ethiopia. She also runs a 10-week undergraduate course in Costa Rica for UW students that focuses on the interaction of community and environment in sustainable development.
