About the speaker

Derek Booth is an Affiliate Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Earth & Space Sciences. He is also a Senior Geologist with Stillwater Sciences, Inc., in Seattle, WA.

Derek Booth's research interests include:
Analysis of consequences of geologic processes and materials on land-use
River systems, hillslope stability, erosion, and groundwater
Measurement and prediction of sediment transport in streams
Development and execution of monitoring programs
Prediction of future hazards to human activity and resources as a result of ongoing urban development
